A federal judge’s dismissal order reminds us of why you should always use the (1) Track Changes and (2) Inline Comments features when editing documents in Microsoft Word.
Evidently someone, most likely the judge’s clerk, lack inspiration (and good authority) for a statement summarizing the requirements for a false advertising claim. A parenthetical on page 11 reads as follows:
“(Meh I need a better rule statement than this.)”

U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel of San Diego signed the February 5, 2019 order. The order was later amended.
You can avoid gaffes like this by simply tracking changes and using the built-in comments feature in Microsoft Word, as explained in the following video:
